Lapsed Credential

The chart below shows the different pathway options available to reinstate a lapsed credential. Review the information to determine which option you will qualify for to reinstate your credential.

Previously certified clinicians who have lapsed may not use the credential in any way during the lapsed period.

Candidates who renew lapsed credentials cannot use the credential until they have received official notice of reinstatement of the credential from NAWCO.

Reinstatement of Lapsed Credentials

    • Receive passing score on certification exam within two (2) years or four (4) attempts (whichever comes first) of credentials lapse. (IF THIS PATHWAY IS CHOSEN AND YOU ARE UNSUCCESSFUL, YOU CANNOT CHANGE PATHWAYS)
    • Complete the Continuing Education Verification Form. (A minimum of 60 contact hours per requirements must be documented).
      • Submit copies of original “certificates of completion” forms from each continuing education program entered on your continuing education verification form.

  8. A WCC that successfully meets the requirements of the chosen and accepted pathway, within 2 years of the credential lapsing, will maintain their original certification number.
  9. A WCC that does not successfully meet the requirements within 2 years of the credential lapsing, will receive a new certification number when all eligibility criteria have been met.
