Recertification Questions

Question:
I attended the WCEI skin and wound management training course to receive my WCC certification.  Can I use the continuing education credits I received from that class toward my recertification credits?

Answer:
Continuing education credits and/or CME's  must be accumulated after your initial certification date for use toward recertification. Since you received your WCC certification after attending the class, the continuing education credits can not be counted for recertification credits.

What is a poster presentation?

Answer:
A poster presentation is a large document in poster format that is displayed at national or regional conventions.  It is a method of communicating new research, projects, case studies or wound care best practices.  A brief summary of what was done, results, photos, and conclusions are outlined and displayed on the poster.

Question:
Last year, I provided a free wound consultation for a home care patient, would that be considered community outreach?

Answer:
Yes, community outreach is an organized activity in which you were not paid or reimbursed for your time.

The activity may be at a local, state, regional, national, or international level, but must be directly related to wound care services for the consumer/patient. Examples may include: Community diabetic foot clinic, volunteering WCC®s expertise in consultation to the uninsured and/or needy patient, wound care education presentation to community, senior centers, college/high school students, nursing homes or service groups; volunteering time and expertise in development of community skin care initiatives, or community wound care team; team member of medical mission overseas to provide wound care in third world countries.

You must be able to provide some type of documentation that you participated in this.
