2017 Outstanding Achievement Awards

Outstanding Achievement Award Nominations 

(NAWCO®), begins accepting nominations March 1,  for the 11th annual Outstanding Achievement Awards. These prestigious awards are given annually to four deserving NAWCO certified clinicians who demonstrate outstanding work in wound care and/or ostomy. Each award category recognizes one winner.

Winners will receive travel expenses and registration for the annual Wild on Wounds (WOW) National Wound Conference, where they will be recognized during the conference. WOW 2017 will be held October 4-7 at The Rio Hotel and Convention Center in Las Vegas.  WOW details are available here.

Nominations will be accepted by anyone with personal or professional knowledge of a respective NAWCO award candidate. Special consideration goes to those who demonstrated outstanding wound care and/or ostomy work above and beyond their regular working environment.  The deadline to submit nominations is July 1, 2017.

Choose a category that most closely matches the nominee’s accomplishments. Provide a narrative response for each of the bulleted criteria within that category.

 

  1. OUTSTANDING RESEARCH IN WOUND CARE
  • Indicate how the nominee demonstrates outstanding research work in the practice of wound care.
  • Illustrate how the nominee collaborates with colleagues and other wound care professionals to successfully facilitate research.
  • Mentoring others is a very important part of the research process. Explain how the nominee mentors others to conduct research.
  • How does the nominee share the results of their research? Site specific examples: poster presentation, authored an article in a publication, presentation at professional meetings.
  • How does the nominee actively promote utilization of their research in practice or advanced education?
  1. OUTSTANDING WORK IN DIABETIC WOUNDS
  • Indicate the contributions the nominee makes outside the daily job responsibilities to promote diabetes education.
  • Illustrate with examples of how the nominee delivers volunteer work in the prevention and treatment of diabetic wounds.
  • How does the nominee recruit/mentor other wound care professionals for the prevention and treatment of diabetic wounds beyond the normal daily job responsibilities?
  • Provide specific examples of how nominee organizes community outreach events on the prevention of diabetic wounds.
  • Describe how the nominee serves as an advocate for the diabetic community and diabetic wound patient.
  1. OUTSTANDING WOUND CLINICIAN OF THE YEAR
  • What specific activities does the nominee utilize that indicates how they excel with expertise in the clinical practice of wound care?
  • Provide examples of how the nominee recruits/mentors other wound care professionals in the prevention and treatment of chronic wounds beyond the normal daily job responsibilities.
  • Indicate what the nominee does to incorporate current research and wound care related literature in professional practice.
  • List the nominee’s accomplishments as it relates to their active involvement in community outreach, wound care legislation or professional wound care organizations.
  • Illustrate how the nominee provides successful collaboration with other wound care professionals to promote the delivery of quality care.
  1. OUTSTANDING WORK IN OSTOMY MANAGEMENT
  • Indicate how the nominee demonstrates outstanding work in the practice of ostomy management.
  • Illustrate how the nominee demonstrates excellence with volunteer work in the ostomy community.
  • Provide examples of how the nominee recruits/mentors other clinicians in the management of ostomy patients beyond the normal daily job responsibilities.
  • List the accomplishments on how the nominee organizes community outreach events on the management of ostomies.
  • Describe how the nominee serves as an advocate for the ostomy community and ostomy patient.
